Chinese social media revolution
In my first post I said that I was going to talk about Chinese Social Media, an issue I am interested in. Despite Facebook is the king of online communities, its chinese counterparts are not so far of becoming powerful competitors in the online world. Don’t you believe it? Take a look at the infographic below. First of all some important issues to consider:
- Currently China has almost 500 million internet users. 50% have more than one social network profile. 30% log onto a social network at least once a day.
- Internet users in the nation spend an average of 2.7 hours per day online-behind only Japan
- According to Synthesio, 95% of surveyed Chinese citizens believe brands that microblog are at least somewhat more trustworthy.
- 61% of Chinese social network users made a purchase because of a digital marketing campaign
This weekend I hope to have time to write about QQ, the biggest chinese social community. Maybe some of you have heard about it.
